올해 마지막 포스팅이 될듯합니다.
Pink Floyd의 Division Bell 앨범 마지막곡 High Hoopes의 Live 실황입니다.
약 12년정도전에 했던 공연인데, 조그만 유튜브 비디오창으로 보기엔 공연 규모가 너무 큽니다.
연주도 연주지만, 저 어마어마한 조명과 영상들...
키보드의 릭 라이트 선생도 돌아가셔서, 이젠 이런 공연 볼수없을듯.. ㅠ.ㅠ

뭐, 지난 Live 8 때 오랫만에 같이 공연(로저워터스 선생 + 나머지 멤버)을 해서 재결성의 가능성에 살짝 기대를 했으나, 단지 일회성 공연이었을 뿐이어서 아쉬웠죠.
이분들은 이분들이고..
통일은 고사하고, 당장 먹고 사는게 힘들어서 촛불들고 거리로 나서야하는 현실이란..

허허 이럴수가.
핀란드 밴드 Nightwish가 Pink Floyd의 High Hopes를 Cover했군요.
근데, 그 오페라틱한 보컬언니는 안보이고, 베이시스트가 노래를 했네요. 근데 보컬 훌륭.
하지만, 역시 원곡의 위대함에는 못 미치는듯합니다. 개인적인 견해로는요.

이곡은 Pink Floyd의 그 유명한 영화 The Wall에 수록된(앨범에는 수록되지 않았습니다) 곡이며, The Final Cut앨범에도 수록된 곡입니다.
The Wall 자체가 Roger Waters의 자전적인 이야기를 기초로 만들어졌기때문에, The Wall의 주인공 Pink라는 인물의 배경이 Waters의 어린시절과 같습니다. The Wall에서 Pink는 아버지가 2차 세계대전때 전사, 홀어머니 밑에서 자라나는걸로 되어있는데, 실제로 Waters선생의 아버지도 2차 세계대전때 전사했습니다.
이 곡은 바로 Waters의 아버지가 어떻게 전사했는지에 관한 곡인데. 침착하고 잔잔한 나레이션같은 도입부의 비장함과 마지막 절규가 전쟁이 만들어낸 비참함과 먼저간 아버지에 대한 원망이 한데 섞여서 가슴 찡하게 하는군요.
여기서, 아는 사람은 알고 있겠지만, 어제 발견한 사실!
이 곡의 제목과 가사에 나오는 Tigers가 '호랑이'라는 액면 그대로의 뜻이 아니고, 2차 대전때 독일의 주력 전차였던 티거(Tiger)전차라는 사실~
'그걸 이제 알았냐?'라고 생각하실분도 있지만, 저는 무언가 수수께끼라도 풀어버린 기분이 들었습니다(괜히 뿌듯, 근데 자랑할데도 없고..)
아래는 , Band of Brothers버전. 중간에 Pink가 아버지의 전사통지서를 발견하는 장면은 The Wall에서 가져왔네요.
마지막에 And that's how the High Command took my Daddy from me 하면서 툭 끊길때, 가슴이 팍 막힙니다.
